  • what's the difference between a braid and an updo?
    Our braid appointments are 20 minutes maximum and performed on your hair’s natural texture (no hot tools). Think braid crowns, side fishtails, and boxer braids. Our updo service covers all-up hair styles and includes the use of hot tools. Chignons, French twists, braided styles, ballerina buns, and more. Our average updo appointment is 45 minutes long. Please arrive with hair clean and fully dry for both braid and updo services.
  • can I request a certain stylist or artist?
    Our request policy is this: We value your preferences and will gladly update your file with the staffers you love. However, with our express service model and commitment to high standards, we are unable to guarantee booking with a certain stylist. We love to curate and will always pair you with the stylist who is best equipped for your desired look.
  • what is your cancellation policy?
    At the time of booking (both online and via phone), we collect a valid credit card to secure your appointment. We adhere to a firm 24-hour cancellation policy Sunday-Friday; 48 hours on Saturdays or for groups of 2; and 72 hours for groups of 3+. We are unable to accept day-of cancellations without penalty. For those appointments cancelled outside the cancellation window—or no-shows to the salon—will result in the full service amount charged to the card on file. Please note that our cancellation policy varies for groups and will be outlined by your group coordinator at the time of booking.
  • how do I book?
    Our online booking is easy to use and available 24/7. We understand that sometimes you just want to talk to a human and we are happy to help with booking over the phone at 773-880-9180. Email is also available, drop us a line to hello@goldplaited.com.
  • do you accept walk-ins?
    Based on availability, we do accept walk-ins; however, we recommend calling ahead.
  • can goldplaited come to me?
    Absolutely! Gold-on-the-go services are available for corporate events, pop-ups, and parties of all kinds. On-site pricing varies, and availability depends on in-salon volume. Please email our group coordinators at hello@goldplaited.com or give us a call for more information.
  • will my services hold up?
    We get this question a lot and assure you that they will! Our team has gone through extensive and on-going training to ensure that your looks stay all day and night.
  • what should I tip?
    20% of your service is the industry standard. However, tipping is always at your discretion.
  • where should I park?
    While goldplaited does not have a designated lot, there is plenty of street parking in the area. Remember to pay for parking and add a few extra minutes to your commute to find a nearby spot.
  • should I bring inspiration / what looks can I choose from?
    We love inspiration—be it a Pinterest image or a time you loved your hair and makeup, we want to see it. That being said, photo inspiration is not required, and that’s why we give you a few ideas on our website and Instagram.
  • what's a celebrity appointment?
    goldplaited’s star service, dubbed the "celebrity," delivers hair and makeup together in just one hour. The hair styling is dry and includes options like waves, curls, body, and braids (pricing varies by style and add-ons). Perfect for busy schedules, it halves your salon time. When booking, don’t forget to request the celebrity service in your appointment notes or over the phone.
  • what is The Gild?
    Imagine a gym membership, but instead of a cardio workout, the result is great hair. The Gild is a weekday membership, delivering unlimited blowouts, dry blowouts & braids to our members Sunday-Friday of each week. Pricing and more details can be viewed on our membership page.
  • are there group rates or discounts?
    We love groups, and our space has accommodated parties as large as 40 people in the past. The best way to source pricing and group rates is by emailing our group coordinators at hello@goldplaited.com.
